Candidates who have successfully completed the CMA Intermediate level are typically eligible to appear for the ICMAI CMA Final Exam.
Yes, candidates can reappear for the exam in subsequent sessions to improve their results.
The exam typically consists of descriptive papers, evaluating candidates on their advanced knowledge and application of cost and management accounting principles.
The exam covers subjects like Advanced Financial Management, Corporate Financial Reporting, Strategic Financial Management, and Business Strategy and Strategic Cost Management.
“Focus on the step in front of you not the whole staircase.” Each paper in the CMA Final New Syllabus is worth 100 marks and consists of 30% objective questions (15 questions worth 2 marks each) and 70% descriptive (7 questions worth 14 marks, any 5 of which must be answered).
If the preparation is enough, CMA is not as difficult as some students claim. If the pass numbers are compared to the ICAI CA exam, the CMA pass % is lower. However, when compared to the CMA Final course, the number of candidates taking the CA Final is significantly higher.
Both CA and CMA are accounting-based courses, but CA focuses on financial or monetary accounting, whilst CMA focuses on managerial accounting. The CMA course is well-known for its strategic management accounting.
