CA Exams 2024 : Dates, Pattern, Syllabus & Eligibility

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) administers the CA test, also known as the ICAI exam, which is one of the most difficult exams in India. Three levels make up the CA examination CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Final. Students who successfully complete these three tests will become members of the ICAI and become chartered accountants, or CAs. Twice a year, in the May/June and November/December sessions, these tests are given.

The dates, forms, and admit cards for the May 2024 CA exams have been made public by ICAI. The exam dates for Group 1 and Group 2 are May 11, 15, and 17, 2024, respectively, and the dates for the May 2024 exam are May 03, 05, and 09, 2024, according to previous trends announced by ICAI.

Additionally, the CA Final Exam Date for the November 2024 Exam has been made public by ICAI. Click the link to verify the exam dates and obtain all the information.

Furthermore, the exam form for  02 & 23Feb, 2024, has been released by ICAI. In April 2024, ICAI will make the admit card available. The official website is where students can download their admission cards.

As mentioned above, there are three levels of the CA examinations that are explained in the following section.

CA Foundation Exam – To become a chartered accountant, one must pass the CA Foundation Exam. Every year, the ICAI holds exams for the CA Foundation course twice: in December and June. After passing the class X exams, students must register with the Board of Studies (BoS). Following their 12th grade exams, students are qualified for the Foundation level coursework.

The CA Intermediate exam –  is a second level that is divided into two groups, each with four subjects. Students must pass the CA foundation test or be a graduate in order to sit for the CA intermediate exam.

The final exam –  in the process of becoming a chartered accountant is the CA Final Exam. During the articleship period, students may register for the CA Final exams, but only after passing both CA Intermediate levels. There are two groups at the CA Final level, with four papers in each group.

CA Foundation Level: In order to be eligible for the CA foundation level, students must complete class 12 or an equivalent exam from an accredited board, according to ICAI eligibility requirements. Students in the commerce stream must also receive at least 50% of their class 12 grades. In order to be eligible for the CA foundation level, students in other streams must receive a minimum score of 55%.

CA Intermediate Level: Students can register at the CA intermediate level from two routes: the CA foundation route and the direct entry route. The eligibility criteria for both the routes are as follows:

CA foundation route: To register from this route, students must need to pass the CA foundation exam with 50% aggregate marks and 40% marks in each subject.

Direct Entry Route: Students can apply immediately for the CA intermediate level after completing their diploma in any stream. For students pursuing this route, graduation requirements are as follows: 60% for science students and 55% for commerce students.

CA Final Level: To be eligible for the CA final level, students need to pass both groups of CA intermediate level and complete at least 2.5 years of articleship training under a certified firm.

ICAI has released the dates of the CA Foundation, Intermediate, and Final exams of 2024. The CA intermediate exams will be held from May 03 to 17, 2024, and the CA final exams will be from May 02 to 16, 2024. CA Foundation exams will be conducted in June 2024 from June 20 to June 26, 2024.

Exam duration for papers 1 and 2 is 3 hours, and for papers 3 and 4 is 2 hours

The duration for all papers is 3 hours.

ICAI Launches New SPMT (Self-Paced Module Test)

Students can apply for the CA exams from the ICAI official website. Below mentioned are steps to apply for the CA Foundation exams;

• Visit the e-service portal and fill in the required details. Click on the button “generate OTP”, and you will get it on the registered email and phone number.
• Enter the OTP received for completing registration. You will receive an SRN (registration number).
• Now, create an SSP (self-service portal). Click on “Don’t have a login to SSP yet”, enter SRN and DOB and then click on validate.
• You will receive your login details by SMS and email upon approval. Enter your credentials to log in.
• Select the “Register for Exam” tab under the exam function, and then select “foundation exam form.” Examine the instructions and enter the necessary information. Before completing the exam form, make sure your photo and signature are up to date.
• After completing the form, click “Next.” On the declaration form, check the “agree” option. There will be a page asking for payment
• Pay INR 1500 for exam fees. After payment completion, the exam application form is successfully submitted. Download the Exam receipt.

ICAI will soon open the exam form for the May 2024 CA exams. Additionally, the exam form correction window was opened by ICAI. The exam form date was published by the ICAI on its official website in the month of February 2024. The registration date for the May/June 2024 exam is January 1, 2024.

Each CA course level’s material and exam format are intended to teach students how to complete accounting, legal paperwork, and tax calculations. The exam designs and marking systems differ for each of the three exam levels.

CA Foundation exams have 04 subjects, and students have to clear each subject. They have to score 40% marks in each subject and an aggregate of 55% to clear the foundation level. The table below mentions the CA Foundation exam pattern:

There are two sets of four subjects each in CA Intermediate. To take the CA final exams, students must pass both of the intermediate level group tests. The table below lists the CA Intermediate exam schedule for the 2023 exams;

The last level of the CA exams in 2024 are called CA last Exams. The CA final exams are divided into two groups. Students in each group are required to pass all four of their exams. The following table outlines the format of the ICAI CA Final exam:

For the CA intermediate and CA final exams in May 2024, ICAI will release test admission cards for all levels on its official website, fifteen days prior to the exam date. Fifteen days prior to the tests, ICAI published the admit card. Applicants can use their login credentials to access the ICAI official website and download the CA admission card 2023.

How to Download Admit Card for CA Exams?

1. Visit the ICAI website and click on the “Login” tab.
2. Enter using your login credentials, such as your registration number and password.
3. Click on the tab indicating “Admit card”. Download the admit card for the CA exam in May 2024 for respective CA exams.
