Who is a Chartered Accountant?

A chartered accountant is a person who is an accounting professional and is granted an international accounting designation in many countries around the world except for the US. Eligibility criteria to become a CA after 12th

Students who have no idea regarding how to do CA after 12th, eligibility for CA or CA Articleship should keep a note of the following pointers:

  • A student must have passed the senior secondary examination, that is 12th.
  • It is not mandatory for a student to have commerce in 12th if they wish to pursue CA.
  • A student from a science background is also eligible to study CA after 12th.
  • Students from commerce background have a benefit as they have ideas about areas of commerce such as accounting.

Steps to become a chartered accountant:

1.  Following successful completion of 12th examination, a registered student. can apply for the CA Foundation exam once.
2.  A minimum of four months is given for preparation of the CA Foundation.
3.  CA Foundation registration is a mandatory step.
4.  Passing the CA Foundation exam is necessary to enroll for the CA Inter exam.
5.  For students willing to apply for the CA Inter exams directly, the ICAI has developed a Direct Entry Route , which allows the students to sit for inter level exams without giving the Foundation exam.
6.  CA Foundation, CA Inter, 3 years of Articleship Training and CA Final are 4 levels of the CA program.
7. Three  years Articleship Training is introduced by ICAI to prepare the students for the corporate sector immediately after graduation.
8.  The students can apply for the CA final exam during the last 6 months of Articleship.

Documents required for CA Exams

  • Signed copy of registration form PDF.
  • In case of differently abled candidates, and ST/SC/OBC, special category certificates.
  • Scanned copy of passport size photo and signature.
  • Signed copy of certificate of service
  • 10th and 12th marksheet.
  • Identity proof.
  • In case of students applying for CA Inter without the direct entry route, certification of passing CA Foundation is required.
  • Students applying for CA Final will be needed to provide certificates of passing CA Foundation and CA Inter.
