ICAI CA Exams 2023: Dates, Pattern, Syllabus, Question Papers

What is ICAI Exam?

The CA examinations, sometimes referred to as ICAI exams, are among the toughest tests in India and are administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). The CA test is divided into three levels: Foundation, Intermediate, and Final. The ICAI will grant membership to students who complete these three exams, certifying them as CAs. These exams are administered twice a year, in May and November.

The Final level and Inter level portions of the May 2023 session of the CA exams will start on May 2nd and May 3rd, respectively. The following table lists the dates for the CA May 2023 tests for all levels:

  • The CA Foundation Exams will be held on June 24, 26, 28, and 30 in 2023.
  • dates of the CA Inter program’s exams: The dates of the CA Inter Group 1 exam in 2023 are May 3, 6, 8, and 10. Exams for CA Inter group 2 will also be given on May 12, 14, and 18 of 2023.
  • The CA Final Exam Group 1 will take place on May 2, 4, 7, and 9 of 2023. Additionally, May 11, 13, 15, and 17 are the dates for the CA Final group 2 paper.

The CA May 2023 preliminary and final exam admit cards will be made available on April 17, 2023. The student’s admittance cards can be downloaded from the official website. Eligibility Criteria of CA Exams for each level

  1. CA Foundation Level: In order to enroll in CA Foundation, students must pass the class 12th exam or a test that is comparable from a recognized board, according to ICAI eligibility rules. Additionally, commerce stream students must get at least 50% of the possible class 12 points. For other stream students to be eligible for the CA foundation level, they must receive a minimum score of 55%.
  2. CA Intermediate Level: Students can register for CA Intermediate Level either directly or through the CA Foundation path. The eligibility conditions for both options are as follows:
  • CA foundation route: To register through this route, students must pass the CA foundation test with a minimum of 40% in each topic and a minimum of 50% overall.
  • Direct Entry Route: Graduates from any discipline may apply straight for the intermediate level of the CA. 60% in science and 55% in commerce are required for graduation in order to be eligible for this route.
  1. CA Final Level: Students must pass both groups of the CA Intermediate Level in order to be eligible for the CA Final Level, and they must also complete at least 2.5 years of training as an articled clerk for a certified firm.

ICAI CA Exam Marking Scheme

Students are taught how to perform legal documentation, accounting calculations, and tax computations in each level of the CA course content and exam structure. For each of the three exam levels, a different exam structure and scoring system are employed

CA Foundation Exam Pattern & Marks Scheme

To pass the CA Foundation exams, students must pass each of the 04 subjects. Students must achieve an overall grade of 55% and a 40% in each of their studies to pass the foundation level. The table below depicts the format of the CA Foundation exam:
